THE ORIGENES ECOLODGE
Origenes is a Patagonian mountain lodge, constructed using traditional techniques and locally-sourced wood, set in a secluded position in the Rio Azul river valley. The private estate is situated in the El Bolson region of Argentine Patagonia, straddling the 42nd parallel between Rio Negro and Chubut provinces and within easy reach of Bariloche airport.

The ranch sits at the base of the Andes, amid lush woodland and overlooked by the glaciers high above. The lodge itself is handbuilt using native renewable resources, and accommodates 22 guests in absolute comfort.

Sustainability matters at Origenes - the wood is all cyprus from the hills above, processed by our onsite sawmill, and the stones come from the canyon river. Every choice has been taken in a way that allows us to avoid changing the wonderful natural environment.
The lodge uses filtered drinking water from the glaciers above; clean, renewable power comes from the wild Patagonian wind and sun; heat, from sustainably sourced wood fires; our soap, detergents and shampoo are all biodegradable; we employ the latest techniques to manage the forest in a way to guarantee its future health; we sow and harvest all our own organic fruits and vegetables; we keep rainbow trout in a lake; we raise sheep, pigs and chickens, and take eggs; we reuse our waste wherever possible - glass becomes our concrete floors, organic waste to feed animals and make compost, we burn all kind of paper and reuse the ash in the green garden, plastics and metals we take in to town for recycling place; and we produce our own organic fertiliser from the sheep and sawdust we raise on the farm.

The Origines vision is that of a place that accommodates a small group, who can enjoy healthy organic food, water from the glacier, the best outdoor activities and an ecolodge built entirely from native renewable resources. Rest, play and make friends in our unique corner of Patagonia.
